# Mass moment of inertia of a Rod

Calculates the mass moment of inertia of a rigid Rod.

`I_z = 1/12*m*L^2` (about central axis)

Here are formulas to calculate the mass moment of inertia of a thin rigid Rod.

In case of a rotation about the rod's center (z-axis on above diagram), the mass moment is calculated as follows,

`I_z = 1/12*m*L^2`

In case of a rotation about a perpendicular axis at end of the rod (e-axis on above diagram), formula is,

`I_e = 1/3*m*L^2`

m : mass of the rod (kg)

L : rod's length in meter (m)
